The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) for the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh on February 29, 2024, issued the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh (Micro-Grid Renewable Energy Generation and Supply) Regulations, 2024.
These Regulations shall come into force on February 29, 2024
The following has been stated namely: -
• These Regulations shall apply to the whole of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh.
•The objective of the Regulations is to promote and facilitate the development, and management of Renewable Energy Generation and Supply through Micro-Grid projects in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh.
•It states that These Regulations shall apply to new and existing Micro-Grid Projects, if any, having capacity above 10 kW up to 1000 kW set up for generation and supply of electricity to consumers in the Micro-Grid served area and/or sale to the Distribution Licensee in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh.
• It states that The existing Micro-Grid Projects shall ensure compliance with these Regulations and shall meet the Technical Standards and Safety measures as per these Regulations within Six months of notifications.
